First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests whether a supplement containing lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin can increase skin carotenoid levels in adults aged 18-50 with macular degeneration. Participants will take either the supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks, then switch for another 12 weeks. The goal is to see if the supplement improves carotenoid concentration, which may support eye health.
