New tiny scope could make back surgery safer and less painful
NCT ID NCT07588555
First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares a new, flexible endoscope technique (LUSE-TLIF) to the current standard minimally invasive surgery (MIS-TLIF) for treating single-level lumbar spinal stenosis, a common cause of back and leg pain. About 276 adults aged 40-70 with confirmed stenosis and instability will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries. The goal is to see if the new scope reduces complications and improves fusion and pain relief.
