Urine test may spare lupus patients from painful kidney biopsies

NCT ID NCT06642402

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study explores whether tiny particles in urine, called urinary extracellular vesicles, can help detect and monitor lupus nephritis without an invasive kidney biopsy. Researchers will compare urine test results with biopsy findings in 40 adults with lupus and kidney involvement. If successful, this could lead to a safer, simpler way to track kidney disease in lupus patients.
