Lung surgery breathing settings compared in new study

NCT ID NCT06608602

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at 140 adults having lung surgery to see if setting the breathing machine volume based on each person's own lung capacity (forced vital capacity) works better than using a standard formula based on height and weight. The goal was to find out which method helps keep lungs working well during and after surgery. Researchers measured oxygen levels and lung stiffness during the operation and watched for lung problems after surgery.
