Study tests if adding a drug helps cancer patients breathe easier sooner

NCT ID NCT03465774

Summary

This study is comparing two ways to treat fluid buildup around the lungs (malignant pleural effusion) in cancer patients. Researchers want to see if adding a drug called doxycycline to a standard drainage tube helps patients finish their treatment faster. The study will follow about 208 patients for up to a year to see which method leads to shorter treatment times and better quality of life.
