First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a heart disease prevention program to routine lung cancer screening can improve the heart health of heavy smokers. About 1000 people aged 60-79 with a heavy smoking history will take part. The program uses chest CT scans to check for heart risks and offers nurse-led support to help with quitting smoking, managing cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar.
