Precision radiation boosts tumor attack in advanced lung cancer trial

NCT ID NCT01629498

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a higher radiation dose directly to the tumor, while keeping the dose to nearby healthy organs standard, is safe and effective for people with stage II to III non-small cell lung cancer. It uses advanced imaging to guide either photon (IMRT) or proton (IMPT) radiation, both given with chemotherapy. The trial includes 146 participants and aims to find the best dose that limits side effects like esophagitis and pneumonitis while improving local tumor control.
