Lung wash may spare cancer patients painful biopsies

Summary
This study explores whether genetic material (DNA and RNA) from tiny particles called extracellular vesicles, collected during a routine lung wash (bronchoalveolar lavage), can be used for genetic testing in people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. The goal is to see if this less invasive method works as well as traditional tissue biopsies for finding gene mutations that guide treatment. Ten adults with suspected or known advanced lung cancer will take part.
