First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked at 110 children aged 2-10 undergoing general anesthesia to compare two common breathing methods (volume-controlled vs. pressure-controlled ventilation) and their effect on lung collapse (atelectasis). Researchers used lung ultrasound to measure collapse severity. The goal was to see if one method leads to less lung collapse after surgery.
