Lymphedema patients may have hidden heart risk, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT05962827

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study is checking if people with lymphedema (a condition causing arm or leg swelling) have higher levels of a blood fat called lipoprotein(a), which is linked to heart attacks and strokes. Researchers will test 100 adults with lymphedema to see how common high LP(a) is and how it affects their heart risk scores. The goal is to understand if lymphedema itself raises this risk, so doctors can better protect patients' hearts.
