Heart surgery drug dose cut in safety trial

NCT ID NCT07477977

Summary

This study aims to find the safest and most effective dose of a drug called protamine, which is used to reverse blood thinners after heart surgery using a heart-lung machine. Researchers will compare three different dosing strategies in 195 adults having planned heart surgery to see if lower doses work just as well while causing fewer side effects like bleeding or low blood pressure. The goal is to improve recovery by minimizing drug exposure and potential complications.
