Doctors test if changing how patients breathe during surgery protects their kidneys

NCT ID NCT07044102

Summary

This study aimed to see if using a specific, gentle breathing method during heart-lung bypass surgery affects a key marker of kidney health. Researchers enrolled 60 adults scheduled for elective heart bypass surgery. They compared the standard 'no breathing' method to a 'low volume' breathing technique to see which was better for protecting the kidneys after surgery.
