First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a low FODMAP diet (which limits certain carbs that can cause gas and pain) helps children with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). 70 kids aged 4-18 tried both the low FODMAP diet and a standard diet in a crossover design. Researchers tracked symptoms like belly pain and bloating, and also checked changes in gut bacteria and waste products to understand how the diet works.
