Birth weight linked to liver danger: new study recruits 300

NCT ID NCT05890365

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether being born with a low birth weight increases the chance of developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) later in life. Researchers will compare 250 low-birth-weight adults with 50 normal-birth-weight adults using liver scans and blood tests. The goal is to confirm earlier findings that low birth weight may be a hidden risk factor for liver problems.
