New scan method could catch 20% more hidden cancers in lymph nodes
NCT ID NCT06527027
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests a new way to read CT and MRI scans to find cancer in lymph nodes. The current method (RECIST 1.1) often misses small tumors, leading to under-treatment. The new method (LN-RADS) may detect about 20% more affected nodes. 1,000 adults with known or suspected cancer will have their scans read using all three methods, and results will be checked against biopsy or surgery findings.
