Liver fat may signal early diabetes risk in moms
NCT ID NCT04362540
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether fat in the liver, found during pregnancy ultrasound, can be an early warning sign of blood sugar problems after giving birth. About 189 women with gestational diabetes will be checked 6-12 weeks after delivery. The goal is to see if those with fatty liver have higher insulin resistance, which could lead to closer monitoring and lifestyle changes to prevent type 2 diabetes.
