Light therapy shows promise for memory loss in older adults

NCT ID NCT07287527

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether a light-based brain treatment called transcranial photobiomodulation (t-PBM) can improve memory and thinking skills in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Participants will receive either active or sham t-PBM during cognitive training sessions over four weeks. The study also looks at how the treatment affects brain communication and whether genetics play a role. Results could lead to a new, non-invasive way to ease memory symptoms.
