Light beams take on eyelash mites in new trial

NCT ID NCT07169461

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests two types of light therapy—low-level light and intense pulse light—to kill mites that cause eyelid inflammation (Demodex blepharitis). About 88 adults with confirmed mite infections will receive one of four treatments weekly for four weeks, plus standard eyelid cleaning. The main goal is to see if the light treatments reduce mite counts more than a sham procedure.
