NCT ID NCT02817061
First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested whether shining a special near-infrared light on the head (called transcranial photobiomodulation) can improve thinking, memory, and mood in healthy adults. Researchers enrolled 80 volunteers aged 18-25 or 65-85. Participants received either the light treatment or a placebo, and their cognitive abilities were measured using computer tests. The goal was to see if this safe, non-invasive approach could enhance brain function.
