Lifestyle coaching may ward off depression in grieving seniors

NCT ID NCT04016896

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether a 12-week healthy lifestyle program could prevent major depression in older adults who recently lost a spouse. 151 participants aged 60+ at risk for depression were randomly assigned to either the program (self-monitoring sleep, meals, and activity with coaching) or enhanced usual care. The goal was to see if the lifestyle intervention reduced depression symptoms and helped maintain healthy daily rhythms.
