Allergy medicine tested as alternative numbing drug for emergency stitches

NCT ID NCT06910241

Summary

This study compares two medications used to numb skin before stitching cuts in the emergency room. Researchers want to see if diphenhydramine (common allergy medicine) works as well as the standard lidocaine for pain relief during simple laceration repairs. About 100 emergency room patients with simple cuts will receive one of the two medications and rate their pain during the injection and stitching procedure.
