Numbing injection may ease pain of uterine biopsy
NCT ID NCT06546254
First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether a lidocaine injection into the cervix (paracervical block) reduces pain during an endometrial biopsy, a procedure where a small sample of the uterine lining is taken. 96 women were randomly assigned to receive either the lidocaine injection or a gentle tap with a capped needle (control). The main goal was to see if the injection lowered pain scores reported by patients right after the procedure.
