Could a local anesthetic stop triple-negative breast cancer recurrence?

NCT ID NCT07458204

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether injecting the numbing drug levobupivacaine around the tumor and nearby nerves during breast-conserving surgery can help prevent triple-negative breast cancer from returning. About 760 women who have already had chemotherapy and are eligible for lumpectomy will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo. The main goal is to see if this simple addition to surgery improves recurrence-free survival at two years.
