Could a common seizure drug replace magnesium to protect moms with preeclampsia?

Summary
This study tests whether levetiracetam, a seizure medicine, works as well as magnesium sulfate to prevent seizures in pregnant people with severe preeclampsia (a serious high blood pressure condition). About 1,240 participants at 32 or more weeks of pregnancy will be randomly assigned to one of the two drugs. The goal is to see if levetiracetam can prevent seizures with fewer side effects than magnesium, which can cause serious reactions.
