Laughter as medicine: new study tests guided laughing for burn patients
NCT ID NCT07386821
First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tests whether a guided laughter exercise, called Laughie, can help people with second-degree burns feel less pain and anxiety during dressing changes. 88 adults will either watch and mimic a video of their own laughter before the procedure or receive standard care. The goal is to see if this simple, non-drug approach can make a painful experience more bearable.
