Summary
This large clinical trial is testing new or repurposed drugs to treat Lassa fever, a viral illness that kills thousands each year in West Africa. The study will enroll about 1,755 hospitalized patients across several countries to see if these drugs can reduce deaths and prevent serious complications like organ failure. The goal is to find safer and more effective treatments than the current drug, ribavirin, which has limited access and concerning side effects.
