Laser beam fights implant gum disease in small trial
NCT ID NCT07524153
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using a diode laser along with standard deep cleaning helps treat peri-implantitis, an infection around dental implants. Thirty-nine adults with the condition were split into three groups: cleaning alone, laser alone, or both. Researchers measured gum health and a protein called S100A8, which signals inflammation, over 12 weeks. The goal was to see if the laser improves healing better than cleaning alone.
