First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving a common laxative called lactulose early after complex appendix surgery helps the bowels start working again sooner. About 150 adults will receive either lactulose or a placebo on the first two days after surgery. The main goal is to see how quickly patients can pass stool and eat solid food without problems.
