NCT ID NCT07497347
First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking L-serine, a natural amino acid supplement, for 48 weeks can improve thinking, mood, and brain function in older adults (ages 65-85) with late-life depression. Half of the 84 participants will receive L-serine and half a placebo. Researchers will measure changes in depression, memory, and quality of life, and look at brain activity and gut bacteria to understand how L-serine might work.
