First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 38 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a special cell therapy (stromal vascular fraction) to a standard knee repair procedure (microfracture) helps people with knee osteoarthritis. 50 adults with moderate knee arthritis were split into two groups: one got the cell therapy alone, the other got both the cell therapy and microfracture. Researchers tracked pain, knee function, and cartilage changes on MRI for two years to see if the combination led to better results.
