Mind and muscle: online therapy plus exercise may postpone knee replacement
NCT ID NCT03771430
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether a program of online cognitive behavioral therapy (e-CBT) combined with physical exercise can reduce pain and improve function in people with knee osteoarthritis who are waiting for knee replacement surgery. About 282 adults scheduled for knee replacement will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: the non-surgical program, surgery followed by the same program, or surgery with standard physical therapy. The goal is to see if the e-CBT and exercise approach can offer meaningful relief and possibly reduce the need for surgery.
