New procedure aims to ease crippling knee arthritis pain

NCT ID NCT06872567

Summary

This study is testing whether a minimally invasive procedure called genicular artery embolization (GAE) can reduce pain and stiffness from knee osteoarthritis better than standard steroid injections. The procedure uses tiny, dissolvable beads to block small blood vessels around the knee, which may reduce inflammation. Researchers will compare the two treatments in 126 participants with localized knee pain to see which provides more relief and improved daily function.
