First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study compared three common procedures for removing medium-sized, hard kidney stones (not in the lower part of the kidney). 300 adults were randomly assigned to receive flexible ureteroscopy (FURS), shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), or mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (Mini-PCNL). The main goal was to see which method left patients stone-free or with only tiny, harmless fragments after two weeks. The study also tracked surgery time, radiation exposure, and complications like fever or severe pain.
