New MRI technique could transform kidney disease monitoring

NCT ID NCT04238299

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study explores whether a special type of MRI can give doctors a clearer picture of kidney health in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Researchers will scan 486 adults with mild to moderate CKD and compare the MRI results with standard tests and kidney biopsies. The goal is to see if this MRI can predict which patients will get worse, helping guide treatment decisions without relying on invasive procedures.
