Could a simple drink help failing hearts in sepsis?
NCT ID NCT06952140
Summary
This study is testing whether a drink containing ketone esters can improve heart function in ICU patients with sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy, a serious heart weakness that occurs during severe infection. Researchers will give the drink or a placebo to 12 patients and measure changes in heart performance using ultrasound scans. The goal is to see if this nutritional approach can support the heart when it's struggling due to sepsis.
