High-Fat diet may stop seizures in infants with genetic disorders

NCT ID NCT06700811

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study tests whether a ketogenic diet—a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet—can prevent epileptic spasms in infants with genetic epilepsy. Ten babies under 9 months old with early-onset seizures will receive the diet and be monitored for safety and feasibility. The goal is to see if starting the diet early can stop these harmful seizures before they start.
