Skin-to-Skin contact tested as shield against deadly infections for tiny babies

Summary

This study is testing if increasing the amount of skin-to-skin contact, known as Kangaroo Care, can help prevent severe infections in premature babies during their hospital stay. It will involve over 3,000 babies born before 32 weeks across 24 hospitals in Europe. Hospitals will be randomly assigned to either train their staff to provide more structured Kangaroo Care or to continue their current standard care.
