Cuddle therapy may shield tiniest babies from brain bleeds
NCT ID NCT07473882
First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether kangaroo care (skin-to-skin contact with a parent) can lower the risk of severe brain bleeding in extremely premature newborns. About 314 babies born at 28 weeks or earlier will be randomly placed in one of three groups: kangaroo care on their side, on their belly, or standard incubator care. Researchers will use ultrasound to check for brain bleeds and compare which approach is safest.
