NCT ID NCT04399642
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looks at whether adding antibiotic powder directly into the joint during hip or knee replacement surgery can lower the chance of infection. About 1,800 adults having a first or repeat replacement are getting either standard IV antibiotics alone or IV antibiotics plus the powder. Researchers will track infection rates for at least two years to see which approach works better.
