Custom 3D-Printed jaw implants put to the test in new study

NCT ID NCT06297109

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to fix jaw alignment during surgery: using standard metal plates that the surgeon bends, or using custom 3D-printed titanium implants made just for the patient. Researchers want to see which method places the jaw bones more accurately and keeps them stable over two years. About 60 people with overbite or overjet will take part, and their results will be compared using 3D scans.
