IVF study reveals: is it genes or Mom's stress that shapes Baby's brain?

NCT ID NCT07296107

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at how a mother's stress during pregnancy might influence her baby's brain and behavior. By comparing IVF pregnancies where the baby is genetically related to the mother with those using donor eggs (no genetic link), researchers hope to separate the effects of the prenatal environment from shared genes. About 360 pregnant women will complete questionnaires, give blood samples, and allow collection of placenta and cord blood, plus fetal monitoring and newborn brain activity tests.
