Pilot study tests better ways to get IV lines into patients with tricky veins
NCT ID NCT06719869
Summary
This pilot study tested whether a future large trial is possible to compare two types of IV catheters for hospitalized patients who have difficult-to-access veins. Thirty adult patients were randomly assigned to receive either a midline catheter (a longer IV placed in the arm) or a central venous catheter (a deeper IV line). The main goal was to see if the study procedures—like recruiting patients and collecting data—worked well before launching a bigger study.
