New combo therapy tested for Hard-to-Treat blood disorder

NCT ID NCT07278908

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a vitamin A-related drug (all-trans retinoic acid) to an existing platelet-boosting medication (avatrombopag) works better for controlling immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) than the platelet medication alone. It will involve 248 adults whose ITP hasn't responded well to first treatments or has come back. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the single drug or the combination for up to a year to compare effectiveness and safety.
