Routine check-ups after joint replacement may be unnecessary, study says

Summary
This study looks at whether the routine one-year follow-up visit and X-ray after total hip or knee replacement is really needed. Researchers will compare patients who have a check-up only when they have concerns versus those who follow the standard yearly schedule. The goal is to see if skipping the routine visit is safe, saves time and money, and reduces unnecessary hospital visits. About 1,000 adults aged 50 and older having their first hip or knee replacement for osteoarthritis will take part.
