First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether intimate partner violence (IPV) is a risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in women taking combined oral contraceptives. Researchers compared 997 women who had a first blood clot with matched women who did not, using a questionnaire to measure IPV. The goal was to understand if IPV contributes to clot risk, but the study does not test any treatment.
