Spinal morphine may boost recovery after gynecologic surgery

NCT ID NCT07322029

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a small dose of morphine into the spinal fluid (intrathecal morphine) to a standard abdominal wall nerve block can improve recovery after laparoscopic gynecologic surgery. About 252 women scheduled for this surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block alone or the nerve block plus the spinal morphine. The goal is to see if the combination provides better pain control and reduces the need for other painkillers, leading to a smoother recovery.
