Feeding schedule may reset body clocks in ICU patients
NCT ID NCT07063303
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving tube feedings at set times (intermittent) instead of continuously could help restore the natural day-night rhythm in critically ill ICU patients. Twenty-four adults received one of the two feeding methods for at least 10 days. Researchers measured gene activity and metabolic markers from blood samples taken morning, afternoon, and midnight to see if intermittent feeding made a difference.
