Ambulance blood test could speed up stroke diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07231315

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a handheld blood test that measures a protein called GFAP to help paramedics tell if a stroke patient has a brain bleed. About 465 adults with stroke symptoms and high blood pressure will have the test in the ambulance, and results will be checked against hospital CT scans. The goal is to see if the test can accurately rule out brain bleeds, which could speed up the right treatment.
