What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) program that addresses anxiety, PTSD, and alcohol use together
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective single therapy that helps veterans manage both anxiety and alcohol use, improving their social and occupational functioning.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-stage study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy requires weekly sessions, and not everyone may benefit or complete the program.
