Experimental combo for aggressive breast cancer shows promise but trial halted early

NCT ID NCT04095689

First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of chemotherapy, an immunotherapy drug (pembrolizumab), and gene therapy (IL-12) in 8 women with a tough-to-treat type of breast cancer (triple negative) that had stopped responding to standard treatment. The goal was to see if the combination could shrink or eliminate tumors. The trial was stopped early, so results are limited.
